Starlings are short-tailed and fat-bodied. They have black bills and are heavily speckled with white and have white tipped feathers in the winter months. During the summer months their bills turn yellow and their feathers turn to a dark, purplish-black or green.

Life Span: Generally around 7 years but can live to 13+ years.
Appetite: 2 to 2.5 pounds per day.
Reproduction:
4 to 7 young per brood, 3 broods per year (some believe that it is more like 4 to 9 young with up to 5 broods per year.

Statistics: Starlings are a very fertile and adaptive species; it will intermingle with other species. Flocks have been reported to number in the millions at winter roosting sites.
